    Product description

Bushveld Charcoal is made from Acacia mellifera, an invasive thorn shrub that is slowly overgrowing the Namibian grassland and causing major damage to local ecosystems.

Years of overgrazing, poor management and the burning of large areas of grassland for agriculture have given the bush free rein in large parts of Namibia. As a result, an imbalance has arisen in the ratio between grasses and shrubs, endangering the biodiversity of Namibia's beautiful nature.
Large grazers such as zebra and antelope are being displaced from their natural habitat. In their wake follows the cheetah, which sees its hunting area shrinking and increasingly falls prey to larger competitors such as the leopard and the lion.
Fortunately, it is not too late. The grassland can be reclaimed by clearing the bush. This not only gives nature a chance to recover, but also offers opportunities for the local economy.

Bushveld Charcoal is ecologically responsible, FSC-certified African braai wood of the highest quality.
With your purchase you contribute to the restoration of unique nature reserves and support local initiatives such as the Africat Foundation and the Cheetah Conservation Fund, organizations committed to the care and conservation of Namibia's diverse population of predators.
