      Our Black Wattle charcoal is produced from the Black Wattle tree (Acacia), a tree species native to South Africa. It is a denser wood than oak, beech or other common types of wood; it burns hotter, cleaner and more evenly.

      High burning temperature and long-lasting burn: Black Wattle charcoal is known for its ability to reach very high temperatures with sufficient oxygen, as well as for its long-lasting and even burn, meaning you need to add fuel to the fire less often when you regulate the oxygen supply properly.

      Little smoke and clean burning: Compared to other types of charcoal, Black Wattle charcoal produces relatively little smoke, resulting in a cleaner cooking process without unwanted odours, but above all, a very pleasant smoky flavour that is not overpowering or bitter. The aroma alone is wonderful!

      This charcoal also produces little ash, resulting in less cleaning after barbecuing.

      Sustainable: The production of charcoal from Black Wattle is more sustainable than that of many other types of wood. The trees grow quickly and are felled as part of controlled forest management programmes. This makes the tree species a renewable source for charcoal production.
