The Black Wattle charcoal from Vuur&Rook ensures a very long, constant burning and a horrible heat in your (ceramic) BBQ! This charcoal comes from South Africa and is made from the waste wood of the fast-growing and common exotic Acacia tree. Ideal for low & slow preparations in your ceramic barbecue. This charcoal is sold per 10 kg bag.

Charcoal is offered in various types. A good charcoal contains a rough selection of obsolete pieces. This ensures that the charcoal burns constantly and that sufficient oxygen can get between the pieces, allowing all the pieces to ignite.

Good charcoal is not mixed, but consists of one type of wood. This is also important to keep the temperature constant. If you have a kamado such as a Big Green Egg or a Bastard, then charcoal is the perfect fuel. Charcoal is able to continue burning with very little oxygen and is also capable of becoming terribly hot.

Briquettes require a minimum amount of oxygen and often extinguish prematurely when used in a kamado.

Dammers Charcoal is made from Black Wattle wood. Very suitable for use in the ceramic barbecue. This strain produces little smoke and a neutral taste.

      Jan Dammers The Story!

We have been active in the field of grill and barbecue products since 1970. Initially it involved pieces of charcoal soaked in spirits to light the coal stove. But in the 1970s, when the number of grill restaurants expanded, we switched to charcoal especially suitable for the catering industry. In the beginning this mainly came from Germany, but after a few years it became clear that the real top charcoal was produced in South Africa, among other places. After a long search and experimentation, we ended up with the largest producer of charcoal in South Africa.

Only they proved to be able to supply the right quality of charcoal as our customers wanted. We have been an importer of South African Acacia charcoal for many years. In recent years, Central American Marabu charcoal has also been added.

This is due to the great popularity of closed ceramic BBQs and charcoal ovens in the catering industry. The heavier Marabu charcoal is particularly suitable for these types of BBQ activities.

It contains nice coarse pieces of charcoal (40-120mm), without too much grit and dust

When we talk about South African charcoal, we are actually talking about wood from the Australian Acacia (Black Wattle). This is a fast-growing, exotic tree that is common in South Africa. Our charcoal is only burned from waste wood. No trees are cut down for it.

      Super fijne houtskool.

+ Goed op temperatuur te houden. Mooie grote stukken.

      – Ik vind alleen jammer dat er soms zoveel gruis onderin zit. Of dat komt door het laten bezorgen.
