    Product description

Black Ranch charcoal is a high-quality, high-calorific charcoal. It is plant-based and produced from the wood of the quebracho (holm oak) tree. This hardwood is very dense in structure, giving the charcoal a very high heat value, reflected in its long burn time and high temperatures. Argentine hardwood species from the Quebracho tree. Its name comes from the Spanish 'Quiebra Hacha': 'Breaks the axe'.

It burns for hours longer than 'ordinary' charcoal and can therefore be used several times. Very heavy hardwood; 1,2 Kg, giving the charcoal an exceptionally high heat value. This translates into a very long burn time and a high temperature!

Charcoal is available in various types. Good charcoal contains a coarse selection of irregularly shaped pieces. This allows the charcoal to burn consistently and provides sufficient oxygen between the pieces, allowing all the pieces to ignite.

Good charcoal is not blended, but consists of a single type of wood. This is also important for maintaining a constant temperature. When you have a kamado such as a Big Green Egg or a Bastard, charcoal is the perfect fuel. Charcoal can continue burning with very little oxygen and is also capable of becoming extremely hot.

Briquettes require a minimal amount of oxygen and often go out prematurely when used in a kamado.
